Using MathTran

MathTran provides translation of TeX encoded mathematics to bitmap images as a web service. This makes it easy to put mathematics on your web pages. Neither you nor your reader needs to install any special software. Here's how to put TeX images on your webpage.

MathTran uses TeX behind the scenes, so the mathematical typography is of the highest quality.

Technical features

MathTran has a number of new and interesting technical features.

  1. It runs TeX as a daemon to provide high performance.
  2. It uses secure TeX to protect the server against user errors and malicious attacks.
  3. It returns math PNG image files, which although bitmaps are also scalable and editable.
  4. It returns custom headers containing log and depth information about the image.
  5. It uses AJAX technology to allow JavaScript to access the custom headers.

Welcome to the MathTran wiki

You might want to first look at some Samples. You then might want to learn about Editing. You're welcome to use the Sandbox as a place for experiments. However, to protect the whole wiki against spam, you'll have to create an account and log in first.

When you've done, perhaps you'd like to add some Comments.
